Queen Elizabeth National Park is a handy addition to a mountain gorilla holiday, lying in close proximity and offering abundant wildlife in a diverse ecosystem of sprawling savanna, humid forests and sparkling lakes. Rare tree-climbing lions live in its southern Ishasha sector, the part nearest to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and there are many other species: antelopes, buffalos, crocodiles, elephants, hippos, leopards, primates and more.
The one activity that cannot be missed is the Kazinga Channel launch trip (boat safari) with plentiful birds and other animals visible from the water. In nearby Kyambura Gorge one can also track chimpanzees — the least-guaranteed chimp viewing of our region but in a truly stunning natural environment!
