Considered one of Uganda’s secondary national parks, Lake Mburo’s location on the road that connects Kampala to the southwest of the country does have some advantages. If you do not manage to visit Akagera on the Rwandan side of the Gorilla Highlands region this is where you can meet zebras (in their natural territory) and giraffes (introduced in 2015).
Because local cattle keepers eliminated lions some 40 years ago and there are no other common predators, the national park lists walking and cycling safaris among its activities. Other animals present at Lake Mburo are buffalos, elands, hippos, impalas and warthogs.
