Congo Nile Trail Can Be Brief But Sweet
Article from the series: Attractions of Rwanda, western Uganda and eastern DR Congo
With bigger tour groups it’s even more important what happens in the background. Olivier had to get 13 top-notch bicycles from Rubavu/Gisenyi to Kinunu yesterday, a multi-hour motorboat ride, so that a cycling adventure could take place today.
A dozen Ravbar travellers (one of them a 10-year girl that needed a smaller bike) cycled downhill to the lakeside restaurant of Mama Nelly and then took a boat to Paradise Malahide where a delicious dinner and a dancing extravaganza took place. Another team member chose to hike a tad with Enock instead, and paid a visit to the Pfunda Tea Factory with the group bus.
This was the third day of their tour that has already exposed them to Rwanda’s Nyungwe forest and will bring them to Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park tomorrow evening. It was the first time for us to give people such a short Congo Nile Trail session, but it proved a big success. If you don’t have a week at your disposal to go deep into ritual Rwanda and feast on Lake Kivu views, a day can work too!
